We are delighted to announce that with over 20 years experience in healthcare, having worked in service delivery, consultancy and as a clinician, Dr Roberts has been appointed the new Chief Executive of NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) as of 1 February 2022.

EBHC DPhil alumnus Dr. Samantha Roberts

Dr. Roberts joined the NHS England in 2018 as Director of Innovation, Research and Life Sciences.

In 2019, she completed a DPhil in Evidence-Based Health Care under the supervision of Professor Trish Greenhalgh, focusing on health economic modelling and implications for policy, specifically the relative cost-effectiveness of alternative diabetes prevention approaches in England.

Director of the DPhil programme in Evidence-Based Health Care, Jamie-Hartmann-Boyce, says, “Our DPhil programme gives students the opportunity to pursue research interests and develop expertise in research methods, and we are always delighted to hear about how our students are utilizing the knowledge and skills gained and progressing in their field of interest.”
