What is the difference between completing a professional short course 'for credit' or 'not for credit'?

Students completing a 'stand-alone' short course for academic credit are expected to participate in all aspects of the course and to submit the assignment. Students completing a short course 'not for credit' are expected to participate in the course delivery but do not submit the assignment.
