Following the success of the inaugural Vice-Chancellor's Education Awards in 2020, the Education Awards is taking place again this year; designed to celebrate and showcase educational activity at Oxford that has a clear and demonstrable impact upon the educational experience of our students.
With 33 applications for the 2022 awards, it is with great delight that we can announce Annette's project, titled, 'Inspiring excellence in evidence-based health care: using digital education to achieve a flexible and diverse learning environment', is among the 13 projects shortlisted.
The Oxford Evidence-Based Health Care (EBHC) Programme is committed to providing flexible and diverse learning for students, and Annette's submission showcases an education innovation; 'The EBM Primer'; created in 2018 by former EBHC DPhil student, Marcy McCall MacBain, with the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine. Evidence-driven in concept and design, the 100% asynchronous EBM Primer, is an online course delivering essential learning in a self-directed learning environment.
Annette's submission shared details of the primers aims and impact, "Completing the primer improves readiness for diverse student cohorts, including part-time students and working professionals from various geographical and industry sectors including medicine, social and healthcare policy, business, non-governmental organisations...Building on what works, we launched a Systematic Review Primer and Medical Statistics Primer in 2020, and developed a new online course for Oxford medical students in 2022. Early investment in developing online resources and digital teaching experience has been a catalyst for our EBHC programme to become a fully hybrid model, and accelerated collaborations with educating partners, including Oxford’s medical school."
The awards ceremony will be taking place on 29 September at Worcester College from 15.00-17.00, when the winners will be announced.
