Working closely with the CEBM within The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, the Alliance aims to develop the next generation of EBHC leaders and educators, generate high-quality research in priority health areas, and promote a culture of evidence-based practice through the use of trusted tools and resources. A central ambition of the collaboration is to support the establishment of a centre of excellence for evidence-based healthcare in Egypt, facilitating transformation across the healthcare system and contributing to improved health outcomes in Egypt and the wider Middle East and Africa region.
The collaboration also reflects the commitment of New Giza University’s leadership, led by Professor Sameh Farid, President of New Giza University, to advancing medical education and research in Egypt. The Oxford–Egypt EBHC Alliance is co-led by Dr Ranin Soliman, Oxford EBHC DPhil graduate and Director of Research and EBHC at NGUH, and Dr David Nunan, Director of the MSc in EBHC Teaching and Education at the University of Oxford’s CEBM. The initiative is supported by Professor Carl Heneghan, Director of the Oxford CEBM and EBHC Programmes, and Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.
The partners extend their sincere thanks to Dr Tarek Moharram, Group CEO of Elevate Capital , for his crucial role in facilitating the collaboration and the establishment of the Alliance’s office at NGUH, and for supporting the Alliance’s capacity-building and educational activities.
