My research is based on the development and application of statistical methods to studies in primary care. My main areas of current interest include diagnosis and clinical risk prediction, and the application of meta-analytic methods.
I provide statistical support for the RAPTOR-C19 workstream of the CONDOR (COVID-19 National Diagnostic Research and Evaluation) Platform, the NIHR Community Healthcare MedTech and In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative, the OxRisk forensic psychiatry risk prediction programme and the RAPSS study in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, and the Cochrane Tobacco Addiction Group.
I have previously worked on studies in a diverse range of application areas, including oncology, radiology, gastrointestinal disease, psychiatry, smoking cessation, mental health and environmental epidemiology.
Methodological research topics that have featured in my current or previous research include models for inter-rater reliability and diagnostic accuracy; clinical risk prediction; joint and hierarchical modelling; geostatistical modelling.
I coordinate the Year 1 & 2 medical statistics teaching of the Oxford pre-clinical (First BM) course, an accredited short course on Clinical Prediction Rules, and contribute to several other modules on the postgraduate programmes in Evidence-Based Health Care.
