Factors predicting primary cam morphology in athletes.

Research Abstract

Primary cam morphology is a bony prominence of the femoral head-neck junction that likely develops in young adolescents who regularly participates in high-load sport. Cam morphology causes femoracetabular impingement and early hip osteoarthritis. We do not fully understand how primary cam morphology develops; it is therefore difficult to recommend evidence-based treatment and prevention strategies. 

The aim of my thesis is to contribute to improving the quality of research into primary cam morphology by investigating factors that predict primary cam morphology in athletes.
