2023 Evidence-Based Healthcare Summer School

The Summer School invites EBHC students, supervisors, consumers and leading evidence-based experts into the surroundings of Kellogg College, University of Oxford, 3-14 July 2023.

The aim of this summer school is to foster debate and engage with like-minded colleagues while offering additional learning relevant to evidence-based health care post pandemic. All skills workshops will span topics around research methodologies, best practice for disseminating research and tips on how to successfully complete an MSc or DPhil in Evidence-Based Health Care.

Whilst the second week (10-14) is available to existing EBHC students only, our first week of EBHC programme modules and non-accredited short courses (3-7 July 2023) is available to anyone interested in conducting and disseminating research for better healthcare.

During this event, dinners, lunches and other social events will be hosted.

One day EBHC Short Course - An Introduction to Systematic Reviews

Available as a standalone one day face to face workshop or alongside the online Primer. This course provides specialised training for evidence synthesis in healthcare. The additional online course material will better prepare you to:

  • Develop questions relevant to improving clinical practice
  • Learn how to design a systematic review research protocol
  • Gain a detailed understanding of the processes involved in conducting systematic reviews
  • Develop skills to conduct and report a systematic review
  • Gain familiarity with basic techniques for the analysis of quantitative and qualitative systematic review data
  • Explore new paradigms in systematic reviews and evidence syntheses
  • Develop the skills for publishing research

One day EBHC Short Course - An introduction to Evidence-Based Medicine

Available as standalone one day face to face workshop or alongside the online Primer.  This course aims to increase your knowledge, skills, and confidence in practicing Evidence-Based Medicine.
This course has been designed for health professionals or those interested in learning how research and evidence can be used to improve health-related decisions.  Together we will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding benefits and limitations of Evidence-Based Medicine
  • Developing research questions and conducting effective searches in healthcare
  • Identifying study designs and levels of evidence
  • Applying essential skills in Evidence-Based Medicine with medical statistics for therapeutic interventions, diagnostics, prognostics, and screening in healthcare
